Stirrups

Stirrups are the metal supports in which the rider places the feet.

What is it for?

They give the rider support and balance and help with mounting and dismounting.

Stirrups hang from leathers on each side of the saddle. Safety types have a rubber side or a hinge so the foot can release in a fall.
